Our Vision
R.C. Saharia Teachers Training College, Tangla devoted to quality education, training, research programmes and academic courses related to the field of Humanities, Arts, Science, Commerce, Teachers Education and training, computer and information technology and other technical and non-technical disciplines with aims and objectives of the upliftment and welfare of the poor and needy people in general, women and children in particular. Besides that College shall held and conduct lectures, seminars, conferences, workshops etc. to evolve a meaningful, effective and enlightened education policy and programmed suitable to the needs and requirements of the state and the country.
About Our Founder
Ramesh Chandra Saharia, born on December 1, 1930, into a family of high tradition, received blessings from Mahatma Gandhi as a baby in Tangla, Assam. Raised by his father, Shri Lambodar Saharia, as an extremely polite and respectful boy, Saharia excelled academically, obtaining degrees from Cotton College, Guwahati, and Banaras Hindu University. Despite his high qualifications, he chose to become a teacher at Tangla Aided Government High School, serving as its Headmaster for fourteen years before entering the State Legislative Assembly as an MLA in 1972.
During his tenure, he played a crucial role in developing educational institutions, contributing to social services in the tribal areas of Tangla. Saharia served multiple terms as an MLA and held various ministerial portfolios, including Forest, Sericulture, Weaving, Khadi & Village Industries, Home, Jail, Civil Defense, Political Suffrage, and Revenue.
He passed away on February 8, 1982, leaving a legacy of dedication to the state's development, remembered for his amiable disposition, devotion to duty, and love for the people. About Our College
The Ramesh Chandra Saharia Teachers ' Training College, Tangla was set up on the 14th of August, 1995 in the cherished memory of Late Ramesh Chandra Saharia, the renowned educationist and Ex-Home Minister of Assam.
The main objective of the college is to provide teachers training and facilitate the development of education in the backward areas of the Bodoland Territorial Council now, in Udalguri District of Assam. Since 1995, the college has been offering a degree in B.Ed. under the aegis of Gauhati University.
The college building in Tangla was formally inaugurated by Dr. Hiralal Duarah, Vice-Chancellor Gauhati University builtin a plot of land 0 .66 acre (Two bigha) in Tangla town of the family of Ramesh Chandra Saharia.
